One step forward, two steps backward. Shooting street photos is like dancing. It's like a performance. You step closer to your subject or you shoot from afar. I do not claim to be an expert at it but I do have my own ways and I seriously love photographing people and imagining what their lives are like and what could have been.
"Photography for me is not looking, it’s feeling. If you can’t feel what you’re looking at, then you’re never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures.” – Don McCullin
This week's edition of Kalye Serye was set in Mandaue City, Cebu where we had the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk. I get excited every time there's a photowalk! Whenever there's one that fits my schedule, I'd usually go. If you love taking photos, there are so many compelling reasons to join photowalks. One of my favorites is exploration.
It was my first time to go around Mandaue. Being usually directionally-challenged, I braved my way there alone and I was so happy I didn't get lost. Haha! My commutes have always been a part of my explorations and adventures.
The market is not really my most favorite destination of all time. I still went though because I figured it's interesting to see the market's dynamics and to feel closer to people, at the same time learn a little bit about their lives. It's crowded, it's hot, and sometimes smelly. But it's fun too! So off I went.
If you have read my Kalye Serye posts before, naturally, there are less words attached to my photos as they are meant to tell a story on their own. So here you go.
1. Drinks For Sale
2. Morning Haggle
3. Imeldific
4. Vibrant
5. Let It Go
6. Something Fishy
7. I Love My Job
8. Waiting For The One

Kalye Serye, formerly Snapshots Saturday, is a weekly blog series featuring my street photography venture. Kalye (street) and Serye (series) aims to build and promote social awareness in the community and the world by creating and sharing meaningful photographs.
Street photography is mainly the act of taking photos candidly which doesn't necessarily have to happen in the streets all the time. Read more about it here - Why Street Photography?
